I like to move it move it

I uploaded the pictures smaller so just click them to see them larger :)
8 month pictures are here

We are on the go with the little man these days. He likes to wiggle and go and DO. He always has something in his hands or in his mouth. Gross! I hate finding him with something in his mouth that I know I didn't give him. 1. I have no clue what it is and I have to go get it 2. It is a battle to get it out (especially without jabbing his little mouth) I've already found paper, a bead that I have never seen in the house (that one scared me), string, carpet, dog food and THREE different bugs. Maybe this means he will run a pest control company. Nate says when he gets old enough, he can find the bugs and take them to the chickens. I guess, at least they were dead.
See and Say - watch his foot

I promise I do actually watch him! He is army crawling every where. I had to get him new shoes because he made a blister on his big toe joint from pushing off that one foot only. He does get up onto his hands and knees but just to hang out

Silas is starting to demand things when he sees them - like if we are eating something he wants or today he wanted a toy someone was holding. He just yells at it - AHHH! I feel bad cause he doesn't have any other way to tell us what he wants and at the same time we have started disciplining him a little for being so bossy. He'll catch on quick though :) Oh and he has also learned to pull himself onto his knees in the crib and a few other objects and then he bounces. Today he was on his belly and when I turned around he was sitting but I missed it twice LOL I even had the camera waiting and then a phone call distracted me!

The baby cave

We also found out that the little dude has eczema and so we've started treating it. It has already improved a TON with a little cotisone and Arbonne baby wash and lotion. When I was at the doctor, he told me that Silas should be eating more food so armed with that knowledge I started trying to feed him more. He has done really well and eats pretty much whatever we give him. He can pick up things and feed himself but it is more efficient when I feed him still. But he is getting really fast.

He went for his first swim and loved it (except when Nate accidently dipped his face in the water)

Nathan has really impressed me with his handy man skills. He has been working really hard to get this fence up and it is not easy when you are by yourself. I know it would take way less time with a helper. Thankfully a friend, Tim, offered to come help and they worked all day. Majority of the work is done now and may be finished tonight so our goats will officially have their permanent home right next door to the chickens. I'll some picture of it when it is done.
Digging holes for the poles

Poles in - THAT was a long and hard day for Nate.

Most of the fence up after Tim's help

Nate has also helped around the house some when the dishes are piling up to the ceiling and I don't know where to begin. If it weren't for him, I might have just thrown the dishes away hee hee hee Just kidding but I am so thankful that he listens (every once in a while LOL he will laugh at that) and rescues me. I am singing his praise right now because he is such a hard worker between work, teaching, house work, school and then he helps ME. Yes, he drives me crazy at times but I wouldn't have it any other way and I knew when I married him that he wasn't right ;)

Hay, Play and May

The biggest change in May was the addition of goats to our family. The boy's name is Misech or Mishack or how do you spell it? Ah, Meshach, that's it. And the girl is Freckles. They are so sweet and fun - like big grass-eating dogs :) Silas loves them because they let him grab them and don't mind....Twiggy does! We have a lot to learn still but are enjoying our little goaties. Nate is convinced that they say "Daaaaaaad" They yell at us whenever we leave them because they want to be with us. And they will walk right in the house with us if we let them. Here are some pictures of them.
Goaties

Freckles - She jumps off everything

Meshach- Nate picked it and I don't know why he chose that one instead of Shadrach or Abendego

Nannying is still going well. I can definitely see a difference in boys and girls. Silas is into touching everything and exploring. Helen does too but in such a more gentle way plus if you tell her to stop, she stops! I know Silas hasn't learned the meaning of no yet but now is the time for training in that area. Friday's we do baths during the day since we have bible study that night and plus it gives me something different to do. I love bath day Friday :)

People ask if they are twins all the time because they are the same size. Helen turns a year old on the 8th and Silas is 8 months old now. Which means everyone assumes that he is sleeping through the night - NOT! I knew that when I had a baby I would be up at night but I didn't know it would be for this long. I don't mind him crying a little before his nap but I do have a hard time with the idea of just leaving him in his room alone when he wakes up in the middle of the night. He does eat when he gets up so how do I know he isn't waking up because he is hungry?

This is what I was talking about when I said Silas is all boy. He rammed his face into the couch, earning his nickname - Bruiser.
Silas' shiner

Cucumbers help mean teeth. He has 2 now.

Daddy teaching Silas about the chick chicks

"Daddy, Mudfish is really cool!"

My goofy boy playing with the banana peel instead of eating the banana. This is his silly face and I LOVE it!

See, he is silly! Check out those little teeth :)

Hi mama! I'm gonna get you!!!!!

My goodness, I love that little face!

Lately, I've really been challenged in my desire to know the Lord. What I mean is that our pastor, Dale, has been teaching through 2 Corinthians 4 and 5 about how we should long to be with Christ more than anything else. And how we should not lose heart in affliction because our focus should be on unseen things rather than seen (present) things. It's been good to think through these things and reminds me of how temporary this life is. It's amazing that I can become so focused on daily tasks that aren't done (yes, those are the ones I focus on) or projects I want to do around the house and yet completely forget that this is a short time of toil. I only have so many days here with Nate and Silas and others. I need to make sure that I am living daily for Christ and purposing each day to try and help others to know Him as well. And if I wasn't already convinced check out 2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
This is a 'judgement' for followers of Christ. At first I'm thinking, GREAT! I have WAAAAAY more evil things done in this body of mine and now it's going to be stacked up in front of me and displayed in front of Christ along with a tiny amount of good stuff?! YES! But this is the beauty of the gospel :) My evil things have already been paid for by Christ! This "judgment" is all about reward. Yes, there are rewards in heaven. And while the goal isn't to stack up a bunch of rewards, it sure is a great thought of Christ rewarding me. Christ! I get to be with Him and then get rewards! Grace is so wonderful because this truly is something I don't deserve but has been made possible through the blood of Christ. I can look forward to this "judgement" :)
At the same time, it is a reminder that there is another judgement to come, the Great White Throne judgement. This is for the unbelievers or nonfollowers, however you say it. This is not a judgement of reward but of condemnation and complete separation from Christ. Which even more stresses the importance to share the good news with those I love and those who I get to have conversations with. I hope that you can say with confidence that you will be present at the first judgement and not the Great White Throne. If you are not positive which one you will be at please ask me questions! You will be at one, that is guaranteed! If you are reading this then it means I care for you and I pray that you are prepared!

Love you guys and as always I miss those of you who we are away from...more than you know. You are not far from my thoughts and prayers!

Latest videos

Here are some videos. They are separate from the posts cause it was easier to organize for me. But the posts explain better.

Silas and Helen playing - I love how he looks at the paci and then at her, Hey?

Feeding the neighbors cow

Just making faces and noises

Ok, he is laughing really hard here so just ignore the fact that you can see me more than him.

"Sweet baby" coming over to visit. He or she loves us :)

His only word - AH! or DAH! or BAH!

He has learned to scoot in this last week. Even from the videos you can see how much faster he has gotten. His method has changed too. It started out as a wiggle and roll in a zig zag til he got to where he was going and now it is straight up army style

April Update

Alright so I shouldn't have gotten so behind. I'll just add some pictures and videos and captions. I think the captions will really let you know whats going on. I will work on May's post soon so that it is ready in MAY LOL

April started out with visitors too! Debbie aka Grammy came to visit for a week and it was FANTASTIC! It's so nice to have family in town because we miss everyone a lot. Silas loves Grammy too! You can tell by the pictures that he loves it when she plays with him.

Silas was making this face for about a week but it's gone now

Playing with Grammy

No wonder he loves playing with her

Grammy wishing she could take him home! (And then Gramzy would be able to see him too)

Silas started having more trouble in the nursery at church. He doesn't cry when I drop him off but he will be playing having a good ol time and then BAM he starts crying - really crying. So they come to get me and usually I figure that he is hungry or tired and the solution for both is nursing. We are trying to work on it but it's hard to fix if you don't know the cause. I thought maybe it was because he doesn't spend time away from us but then he did great with Debbie. She could take him pretty much any where for 3 or 4 hours and he didn't care. He is so great every other day and time that it's really hard to complain. I am really ready for him to start sleeping through the night also. I know that it will eventually happen but it is tough to wait for it! I guess maybe my body has gotten more used to it now though because I am able to enjoy snuggling him when he falls back asleep. I know he won't be little forever and I LOVE those sweet sleepy hugs. It's hard to imagine that one day he will be a junior higher needing homework help!

We painted Silas room and hung up chair rail with the help of Grammy. There is the painted name thing that Megan and I worked on.

The poppy fields are in bloom. It's a good year! Last year we tried to take Aunt Windy and Ashley to see them and it was just a dirt field with 4 poppies - which we got yelled at for standing near! Here is what it should have looked like. They are SO bright!

7 months old - watch me grow album
www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2406336&id=5011339&l=dcb3c15df2

Nate's pins came out of his wrist - at home, before they were supposed to. The doctor told him to just take them out. It was freaky but actually made it feel a lot better. A few days later he had the surgery to remove all of them. Then Nate played Dr. and decided he would cut of his soft wrap/cast thing and take out his own stitches. And that darn Dr.! He didn't even give Nate a hard time for doing it - "Well, that makes my job easier." WHAT?! Man, now Nate is always gonna play Dr.!!!!!
Grossness

Sorry if that is graphic for you but if you know me then you know I can handle that stuff so ....you should have known it was coming hee hee!

And I started nannying for baby Helen. Well, she is almost a year old. I am just doing this til the end of the school year. Her regular nanny is my good friend Kathy who just had her baby girl, Maggie on May 6th :) It's been challenging but I think it does help me to prioritize so that is great! It's just grocery shopping that has had to be put off til the weekend. I prefer going during the week without the crowds. I know Debbie and Angie - "Push one cart and pull the other" Well not all of us are 1. super women and 2. crazy, yeah you guys are, don't deny it LOL If I get brave enough to take them one day then I am determined to do it with one cart. I suppose if I were one of the other Walters women this wouldn't be an option because I would be trying to feed so many mouths. If that day ever comes then I will be asking Nate to stay at home with the kids so I can go with just one or none. Anyways, point is that it is going well and of course it is a little more tiring. Helen really is sweet though!
She's cute, huh?

March Summary

Snuggles before bedtime

We started off march with a few visitors from Florida :) Jason, Megan and Nathaniel came to visit us. Nate and Jason went down to the Masters Seminary for 3 days for the Shepherds Conference. They loved it of course! Megan and I were mainly inside with the boys because it was cold out still but we did get to do some reading and a fun project for Silas' room which you'll see. It was great to spend time with another wife to a seminary student and mommy to a boy! Nathaniel is just a few months older than Silas.

I don't have any pictures of their visit because of the next part.....:( I dropped the lap top which broke our hard drive so much so that the data is not recoverable. We had a friend from church look at it and it is a loss. This was really really hard for me 1. because I hate that I'm always the one to break things, embarrassing! 2. We had not backed up the computer since Silas was born so we lost a lot of his pictures and videos along with Nate's previous seminary work. My mom was so sweet when I called crying, she just let me be sad and tried to encourage me. I was terrified to call Nate. No one wants to say that they broke something so valuable. At first Nate seemed irritated but then my loving husband let me know that it was only an earthly possession and he loved me despite the fact that I'm clumsy.

Silas had his 6 month doctor visit. He weighed in at 20.5 lbs and was 28.5 inches tall. He is in the 96th percentile for height and 90th for weight. He also became official by getting his birth certificate lol He is growing like crazy and is a lot of fun! He started attempting to eat solid foods. He HATES baby food - he won't open his mouth after he realizes what it is so we have decided to do something called baby-led weaning. This basically involves giving him real food, whole and letting him go at it. He is getting better and better at it. He loves it if I help him eat by breaking off bites of food and giving it to him.
This link will get you to all of his watch me grow photos:

Grammy is going in to feed him his first bite

gooey!

Still plenty of faces but mainly because he took too big of a bite

Quick bath to get rid of the sticky banana

Nate and I officially became Californians - WEIRD!

I decided that I like being crafty and so I've started several projects. I made the hanging name signs (with Megan's help), covered a diaper box so it looked nice for storage, painted and assembled a bird bath, started growing plants to hopefully put in a garden soon and made Nate framed art that he had liked at a store - I knew I could do it cheaper! It's been fun :)
Homemade-ish birdbath

And we got our first batch of chicks! We had some tragedies though - some just died, some drown, some almost drown and were rescued. So the statistics? We lost 13 out of 18. HORRIBLE! We couldn't figure out what was wrong with our set up. We gave them a huge box, kept it clean, blah blah blah In the end we realized that the woman who sold them to us, is a chicken murder, I mean she gave us sick chicks. She doesn't kept them in nice clean conditions so they got sick from coccidiosis. We love our 5 survivors though. They are growing really slow because of this also except one is huge. The others snuggle up next to it like it is a momma hen. It's pretty funny to watch them. We also got our second batch of chicks the first week of April and all have survived since we got them healthy :)

Swinging while we play with chicks

And we found out that Silas will have a new cousin in about 6 months. This one is not as likely to have red hair though! If you get a chance please pray for Christina and Anthony as poor Christina has been so sick. Fortunately I don't know what that is like but I have heard many times that it does make it harder to enjoy pregnancy and the end goal. Pray for her to feel better soon and if it is God's will for her to face "morning" sickness that He would help give her the right mindset through out her sufferings. We are so excited for this newest little one and that joy they will experience. Being a mom now, I am SO excited for our family and friends to experience this!

March 23, 2010

Well, I'll admit it from the start. I dropped the lap top and it broke the hard drive. SO we are hoping that a friend is able to recover the data. If not, then Silas' 5 month is gone and unfortunately we haven't backed up the computer since he was born. Thankfully some stuff is on Facebook and I can pull it back off to have again (except for the 5th month). That was a really hard couple of days for me- I have been trying to focus on what God wants me to learn here - I need to be more careful and I didn't realize how much an earthly possession meant to me. If it had broken before Silas was born then I would have been sad but having all of his baby stuff on there is what broke my heart. However, I still have Silas! And God has been good too show me to live in the moment with him and cherish my time now. Yes, it's wonderful to look back but the present with him (and Him) is so sweet!
Here are some videos(that were still on the camera) to show what I mean!

La la la la

Hmm I have the time to write at this moment but really my mind is kinda empty and not cause I'm super tired, it just is. And I've had so many things I've wanted to share lately! I'll try to just give a quick rundown on everyone here.

Twiggy: She is doing good and it still as cute and sweet as ever. We try and spend time with her so she isn't jealous. I usually take her on 1-2 walks a week or just a car ride if I'm just running one errand. I think it's good to get out and explore :) Here she is enjoying the sun on a warm day and sniffing the camera

Nate: Oh I'm sure he is ready to get rid of that cast! I think he has about 4 weeks left and then therapy. He is moving along with his school work. He did get an extension since he can't type or write really. He is still enjoying reading and it's fun to see him get excited over things he has never read before.
~Work has been going good too. Some of you may have gotten an email that said they finally shot down the test missile which is the whole point of this project so it's a pretty big deal.
~Matt has been coming over to help with the chicken coop and Nate directs him LOL Poor Matt - we do try to feed him!
Here is sweet moment with "dew two" - we call him that for some reason? He likes that noise!

Me: Doing good. Silas slept a few more nights all the way through! I'm settling into a routine with the house and taking care of Silas. I am starting the second semester of Biblical Counseling at the church but this time I have to take part of the class online since Nate can't take care of Silas while I'm gone. I'm working my way through Hebrews - I'm chapter 11 now and I've been learning some really great things about faith. It's sparked frustration in me though with those who claim to have faith and really don't live a life of faith or those who know the truth but whose lives aren't changed. And the frustration comes because the Bible very clearly states the destruction that will come to these people. Now, I'm not perfect at all but I hate the idea of watching people nod their head in agreement with Christianity but never make it a reality for themselves. I am scared for my friends who have something they won't let go of and actually commit themselves to Christ. (I'll pot the link for the 2 sermons at the bottom)

I've also been learning more about repentance. There is being sorry for sin and agreeing with God that you sinned - that's not repentance - repentance is turning from sin (this I knew) but coupled with it is the idea that you intend not to sin against God in that way again. That really puts things into perspective! I can say "God I'm sorry for not spending time in the Word today or I'm sorry for my words with whoever" but that is completely different than saying" I know it is sin, I'm sorry and I intend to not do it again. Help me to turn from this sin. How many people would be speechless while trying to confess sins if they understood the need for committing to removing that sin from their life? I think many like to just say - sorry. and then next week say sorry. And of course I'm guilty of this at times but I'm learning daily and growing!
Playing with Silas as usual, I love doing this with him and he loves playing with my face!

Silas: He can roll over as you can see in the video below - that was his first day rolling over and he is much quicker now!
A day in Silas world
Here he is peeking out from blankets as he woke up from a short nap. I tried to make him think he was still in my arms - the smirk says it all "mooooom, I caught you!"

PLaying in the high chair for the 1st time

Playing some more - this time with baby Helen. He is really looking forward to me nannying Helen while "Aunt Kathy" has her baby in April

Nakey time!

A warm bath at the end of the day

If you don't know about apostasy, I can tell you it is a very serious thing. If you click the link you can read the sermon and from that page you could choose to listen as well. They are longer but if I don't have the full time then I just break it up. I pray that none of you will be an apostate!
